At our Medical Centre, we care about three things: our people, our practice and our patients. Our aim is to give the highest possible quality of care by ensuring excellence in all aspects of our practice.
We are a team of professionals working together to ensure that our patients get the best possible health care advice and treatment. Our friendly doctors/GPs and allied health professionals are fully trained, qualified and accredited. Our doctors receive regular training to keep up to date with the latest medical information and technology to ensure our patients are getting the best advice. Our doctors are involved in all aspects of medical care for everyone from the newborn to the elderly. All our doctors believe in the philosophy of spending time with the individual patient, providing quality care in a friendly, caring environment.
Our nurses and receptionists are highly trained and are there to assist you in your needs and ensure that your visits run smoothly.
We take the quality of care of our patients very seriously. We are committed to providing patients with a high standard of care for the benefit of each patient’s health and wellbeing. We aim to provide patients with comprehensive, continuous and confidential medical care in all aspects of family medicine. We endeavour to provide patients with the best and most current treatments, methods, materials and equipment to ensure that patients receive the high quality of service they have come to expect.
We will attend to all emergency cases as quickly as possible.
We believe that patients come first!
THE ONLY green-friendly medical practice!
Illawarra HealthCare Centre is socially responsible and environmentally friendly. This means we have greatly contributed to the global green movement.
That’s right; we have facilitated the conditions under which humans and nature can co-exist, while still satisfying the social, economic and environmental needs of present and future generations.
This includes using environmentally-friendly equipment and technology as well as turning off all unused appliances outside of hours. But don’t worry; we don’t sacrifice the quality of your health care in the process. And we definitely do not sacrifice your privacy in the process.
Unlike any other medical practice, Illawarra HealthCare Centre can confidently say we are the ONLY medical practice embracing the green movement.
Illawarra HealthCare Centre welcomes one and all!
As part of our ongoing commitment to supporting people in the most need, Illawarra HealthCare Centre is equipped to tackle the crippling health conditions and inequities experienced by Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.
We aim to support families and communities as they determine and lead their own solutions to achieve positive change. This means we are guided by, and answerable to, the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, communities and organisations we work with.
Illawarra HealthCare Centre does not compete with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander community organisations and their services or seek to replace them. Our ways of working with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples is focused on:
Together As Partners
Building long-term and respectful partnerships by working with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, communities and organisations to determine and lead their own solutions. Our vision is to be the leader in improving the physical, social, emotional, cultural and spiritual wellbeing of Aboriginal people in collaboration with our members, patients and partners.
Working with the most vulnerable people is the responsibility of the whole organisation and, as such, we aim to ensure that every part of Illawarra HealthCare Centre is culturally accessible to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. Too many Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people experience unacceptable levels of disadvantage in living standards, life expectancy, education, health and employment. One of the main reasons for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people experiencing such disadvantage is culturally inaccessible services. Long-standing racism and mainstream programs that do not meet their needs have been major contributing factors. However, at Illawarra HealthCare Centre, we are trained, caring and accepting of all people and races.
Training and Understanding
All our doctors undergo training and education to recognise and understand the needs of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people, as well as their communities. As a result, our staff are able to help us work best together.
For the convenience of our patients we have a pathology collection centre. Our receptionists are welcoming and friendly and are happy to assist you. They have received training in customer service and take pride in providing high-quality care. Our centre has a treatment room and dedicated practice nurse onsite to assist the doctors in procedures, vaccinations, wound dressings, etc. Some of the services our doctors offer include travel health, women’s health, care planning, WorkCover, paediatrics, aged care, immunisations and pre-employment medicals.
